MJPG-Streamer...Yet Again

You woke up toady almost as excited as yesterday. You went to Calc period 1/2 and had a good time practicing AP multiple choice questions. After math, you left school with Josef and went to your basement to work on getting a reliable video feed. After testing the Raspberry Pi Camera with Netcat (networking software) and MPlayer (video playing software), you decided to install MJPG-Streamer on the BeagleBone Black.

BeagleBone w/ Webcam

This was not hard, as you had already done it many times before on the Pi. After installing MJPG-Streamer both you and Josef were delighted to see less <.1s of delay! To bad you were viewing it from the Webserver....after running it through VLC and optimizing the speed you were able to get a feed with <.5s of delay. You took a picture of the difference between the webserver (right) and VLC (left):

After Josef left for English and Liam for Latin, you went to Nick's house and he showed you V2 of the float (which he and Liam had been working on). It was very nice compared to V1. You and Nick then tweaked the blog (RoboGoby) and made it look even better!

After a fun, but windy Frisbee practice you went to Swimming. Swimming was fun, but you sure were tired. You drove home, ate, did a few things, and then went to Nick's at 20:15 to finish up part of float V2. While at Nick's you attached the second stepper motor to the float (the one used to neatly organize the tether) and created the second half of the pulley system used to organize the tether. After you successfully helped fix the bandsaw (it was really Nick's dad that fixed it ). All in all it was a good day.

Taylor Series & Float Building

You had to go to math period 1/2, so it was an early morning as usual. In math you practiced multiple choice questions for tomorrow's AP test (for which you also have to wake up early!). The most annoying problem was one concerning a Taylor series with e in it, however you have now mastered the trick to doing similar problems.

After math you and Liam went to your house and worked on creating the second prototype of the float. You guys worked from about 0945 to 1215 This one looks much more promising than the last and you are excited to make a final version of it. After lunch Liam left, this was followed by Travis arriving around 1300.

Travis and you worked on remastering the blog as it was getting unorganized and there were a few issues. The new blog looks much better however and though it took a while you feel it was worth the time.

After that you all attended frisbee practice from 1430 to 1630, it was a little difficult because of the wind.

Later, from 2015 to 2144, you and Travis got together again (after he swam) so that you could continue work on the float, adding the last motor to complete the prototype.

FOLLOW THE [new] BLOG (5/5)

You woke up on the first day of Senior projects and you were ecstatic to start another blog! After your extreme success on the RoboGoby Blog you were ready for more. Soon after the excitement died when you realized that this was not actually the first day of senior projects and that you had to be at school within the hour.

You went to school and presented about Pinochet's Genocide in Chile for WHAP. You had a great time presenting. After WHAP, Nick, Josef, and you split up. Nick and Josef went to get the 4-inch PVC for the sub, while you stayed at school with Liam and wrote RoboGoby's April Update.

After you got your teacher's signatures in order to leave on Senior Projects, you ate lunch, and then went to physics. To you, physics today was the same physics had been all year long.

After school you went to frisbee. At Frisbee you ran around and threw a plastic disc through the air. Afterwords you finished up a WHAP essay and then went to Model UN. At Model UN, you created a resolution that would harness the economic value of exploding whales (previously dead of course).

After Model UN you finished up your position paper, and researched different transducers/video streaming software for the sub. You then went to sleep.

You've decided to include an image/video with each blogpost (as seen above).

You had a great first day of Senior Projects!

AP's and PVC (5/5)

Your name is Nick Nelsonwood and you're finally on senior projects, though it won't feel like it for about a week.

Your first day of senior projects was not much different from those that preceded it. You had to go to school for 1/2, 6/7, and 8/9 due to AP classes and a final. You attended WHAP for presentations and an introduction to two new assignments.

Then during 3/4 you and Josef went to the hardware store to purchase PVC pipe. Upon returning to the school you both met up with Liam and Travis, at which point you created and sent out the April update about the goings on of the project.

During 6/7 you had to go to physics and work on a practice AP test. Finally during the 8/9 you got to take your math final. After school, frisbee practice required your presence, this was a welcomed couple hours off to play around. After frisbee you did homework before ending the day by going to Model UN.
